...but you were wrong. There is such an overabundance of parking that we've decided as a people to turn parking spots into little teeny tiny parks! Coming to a city near you.

As soon as I saw the no parking A-frame sign, I thought "is this Seattle?!"
Seattle is already home to several pocket parks, why bother with this? Then again, I've never really found that the city has a shortage of parallel parking spaces either.

Those signs are rather ubiquitous in the Seattle area. There is an area provided to write dates on them, but however it is/was supposed to work seems to be worn out. Now they just stick a standard sheet of paper on it that is too small to read until you get out of your car.

And you must be a wizard, because I can never find a spot. I usually end up driving out a ways and walking several blocks. Thankfully I'm still young-ish.

It's better than the approach I've seen in DC, where they put the piece of paper on a nearby post, which sometimes means you have to lean back and forth around the post to read the text.
I think parking demand and availability varies pretty greatly by neighborhood and time of day. I was usually looking at night or on weekends, and in general, I expect to walk a few blocks. I guess in my experience there are fewer arcane restrictions and faster turnover than in some other cities.
